My kid's inhaler was twelve dollars at one pharmacy and three hundred forty at another the same week, same insurance. Nobody could explain the gap — not the pharmacist, not the insurer, not the app. Shouldn't the price of staying alive be something an ordinary person is at least allowed to understand?

A good number of my students come in hungry, and we've somehow turned breakfast into a paperwork contest their parents have to win. If we can feed every kid on a field trip without asking what anyone earns, why can't we manage it on a regular Tuesday? I keep feeling like the hard part isn't the food.
